Our findings suggest a close relationship in COVID-19 cases between sCD163 and KL-6, and this is supported by a recent finding reported by D. Wendisch et al. concerning the pivotal roles of recruited CD163-expressing M2 macrophages driven from circulating monocytes into lungs in the process of COVID-19-induced lung fibrosis [47]. The gene discussed is MUC1; the disease is pulmonary fibrosis.
