The proinflammatory cytokines IL-16 and TNF as well as the receptor genes for inflammatory cytokine receptors including IL6ST, IL15RA, IL18R1 were upregulated in CD4 T cells from lymph nodes on day 10 following infection compared to uninfected controls (IL-16 in mLNs, P = 0.02; TNF in mLNs, P = 0.04; IL6ST in mLNs, P = 0.007; IL15RA in mLNs, P = 0.01; IL18R1 in pLNs, P = 0.03) (Fig. 5C).
