In addition to poor tendon healing, abnormal LOX-mediated collagen crosslinking has been implicated in heritable connective tissue disorders and birth abnormalities that affect tendon, including EDS, clubfoot, and Menkes disease (Di Ferrante et al., 1975; Kuivaniemi et al., 1985; Royce and Steinmann, 1990; Knitlova et al., 2021; Novotny et al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene LOX and connective tissue disorder.
