Cao et al. (2019) showed that lncRNA MM2P could induce M2 macrophage polarization in a STAT6 phosphorylation-depend way, further promoting tumorigenesis, tumor growth, and angiogenesis. In gastric cancer, Li et al. (2019b) revealed that gastric cancer–derived mesenchymal stromal cells trigger M2 macrophage polarization that facilitates metastasis and EMT. Studies have shown that low levels of endogenous IL23 produced by tumor-associated macrophages, dendritic cells, or tumor cells may promote inflammation, which is conducive to the occurrence and progression of early tumors (Neurath, 2019). This evidence concerns the gene STAT6 and neoplasm.
