SAL1 shows a clear homology with over 60% amino acid sequence identity to a group of major lipocalin allergens derived from horse (Equ c 1), cat (Fel d 4) and dog (Can f 6), that are responsible for a large proportion of clinically relevant IgE cross-reactivity in patients with mammalian respiratory allergies (34, 75). The gene discussed is SALL1; the disease is allergic respiratory disease.
