More than half of patients with NSCLC are diagnosed at the advanced stage which makes surgery impossible.3 Numerous studies showed the association of mutations in epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) with NSCLC.4 Therefore, EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have been recommend as a potential first-line treatment for advanced NSCLC patients with EGFR mutations positive.5 However, acquisition of an additional mutation in EGFR, resulting in substitution of threonine amino acid 790 to methionine (T790M) is the most common resistance mechanism that occurs.6,7.
