The immunofluorescence staining of CD68 and CD86 showed the infiltrating M1 macrophages were downregulated in large AAA samples (abdominal aorta diameter >55 mm), upregulated in both small AAA samples (abdominal aorta diameter ≤ 55 mm) and ruptured AAA samples compared to the healthy aorta (Figure 8A). This evidence concerns the gene CD86 and triple-A syndrome.
