In our study, we showed that FGF2 was a target gene of miR-221-3p, and FGF2 expression was inhibited by miR-221-3p in ASMCs, Furthermore, FGF2 overexpression reversed the inhibitory effect of exosomal miR-221-3p on TGF-β1-induced proliferation, migration, and ECM deposition in ASMCs, indicating that exosomal miR-221-3p exerted its protective role in asthma by inhibiting FGF2 expression. Here, FGF2 is linked to asthma.
