Interestingly, using a phosphoproteomic screen in lung cancer cells, the Rac1 guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) VAV2 was identified as a downstream target of vimentin which induces VAV2 phosphorylation and the localization to FAs where it activates Rac1 (Havel et al., 2015). This evidence concerns the gene RAC1 and lung cancer.
