G6PC encodes the key enzyme glucose-6-phosphatase, which functions in catalyzing glucose-6-phosphate into glucose during gluconeogenesis, thus its reduced expression resulting in decreased gluconeogenesis and reduced level of glucose as well, which may eventually affect tumor cell proliferation and tumor progression.[47] Thus, G6PC may be used as a potential prognostic marker for HCC. Here, G6PC1 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
