Studying putative mechanisms of inflammation and pain behaviors in Tamoxifen-induced Gdnf conditional knockout mice with persistent axonal degeneration, blood-nerve barrier permeability, chronic nociception and impaired axonal regeneration after peripheral nerve injury provides a reliable model to study traumatic neuropathies with pathologic findings similar to nerve biopsies of axonal peripheral neuropathic patients with chronic pain in clinical practice. Here, GDNF is linked to neuropathy.
