Further studies have underscored pleiotropy of ANKRD55 by linking many SNPs to multiple sclerosis [7], type 1 diabetes [22], Crohn's disease [20, 23], juvenile idiopathic arthritis [24], celiac disease [12], and inflammatory myopathies [17, 25], as well as post traumatic stress disorder [26], cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease [27] and type 2 diabetes [28, 29].
