Several studies suggest that CXC chemokines, such as CXCL1, and their receptor CXCR2 are strongly associated with the migration and recruitment of monocytes/macrophages and neutrophils in different inflammatory diseases, including hypertension, cardiac remodelling, and atrial fibrillation [3,9,10,30]. This evidence concerns the gene CXCR2 and hypertensive disorder.
