Anthropometric indices and haemoglobin levels were consistent with high prevalence of undernutrition and anaemia in the population throughout the study period (Table 2), with a mean (SD) weight-for-height Z-score of -1.6 (1.5) in the ≤10-year-old age group, mean BMI-for-age Z-score of -3.0 (1.1) in 11–19 year-olds, mean BMI of 15.7 (2.1) kg/m2 in adults aged 20 years and older, and mean Hb of 9.2 (2.0) g/dL. The gene discussed is GSTM1; the disease is anemia (phenotype).
