The basic routine tests recommended for COVID-19 patients include complete blood count, tests investigating coagulation and fibrinolysis steps (prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, and d-dimers), and inflammation-related parameters (erythrocyte sedimentation rate [ESR], C-reactive protein [CRP], ferritin, and procalcitonin [PCT]).5 Inflammatory markers such as PCT, serum ferritin, ESR, CRP, and interleukin-6 (IL-6) have been reported to be significantly associated with high risks of developing severe SARS-COV2.6 Here, CRP is linked to COVID-19.
