The MФ8 macrophage state, elevated in COPD, was characterized by proliferation-associated genes (MKI67, TOP2A, and NUSAP1), as well as increased expression of histone genes (HIST1H4C and HIST1H1D) and most of the MФ8 cells were computationally assigned to the G2/M cell cycle phase (Figure S2A), strongly supporting these cells representing proliferating macrophages. This evidence concerns the gene H1-3 and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
