Reduced HNF3γ expression not only leads to HCC proliferation by inhibiting the differentiation of HCC cells and liver cancer stem cells, but also downregulates organic anion-transporting polypeptide 1B1 (OATP1B1) and 1B3 (OATP1B3) expression and thus impedes sorafenib uptake, resulting in the decreased sensitivity of HCC cells to sorafenib [103]. This evidence concerns the gene FOXA3 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
