On the one hand, the GSDMD-N domain was reported to have detrimental roles in metabolic liver diseases, such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) as removal of Gsdmd could protect mice from these kinds of liver diseases (8, 9). Here, GSDMD is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
