NKX3-1 and posterior cortical atrophy: NKX3‐1 is an androgen‐regulated homeobox gene and is highly expressed in prostate tissue.[19] It is closely correlated with the cell growth and differentiation of prostate tissue.[20] Loss of heterozygosity in the 8p21 region involving NKX3‐1 was commonly reported in PCa tissue.[19, 21, 22] Epigenetic regulation of NKX3‐1 transcription and posttranslational modification of NKX3‐1, including phosphorylation and ubiquitination, were also reported.[18, 23, 24] These reports suggest that NKX3‐1 might serve as a tumor suppressor in PCa.
