Work from our group demonstrated that 40 Hz visual stimulation down-regulates the expression of histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) and cyclooxygenase-1 (COX1) in the ischemic cortex and EP2 in the amygdala, which ameliorates the susceptibility to anxiety and depression in mice exposed to post-stroke stress (Zhu et al., 2022). Here, HDAC3 is linked to major depressive disorder.
