Elevated chemokine levels observed are in agreement with the chemokine storm observed in severe human COVID-19 cases and different SARS-CoV-2 experimental models56,57, where the role of CXCL-10 has been particularly highlighted in COVID-19-associated Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) as well as in severe influenza58. The gene discussed is CXCL10; the disease is acute respiratory distress syndrome.
