In the current study, neutrophils accumulating at the epineurium in WD expressed MIF and CXCR4, and inhibition of either of these two molecules substantially suppressed NET formation, enhanced macrophage accumulation at the parenchyma, and promoted the WD repair process, indicating that the MIF-CXCR4 axis mediates NET formation and the WD repair process. Here, MIF is linked to Wilson disease.
