IL17A and juvenile idiopathic arthritis: Compared with controls, increased levels of IL-17A were reported in patients with JIA, especially in the setting of active disease.6 Progression of structural damage is mediated by the IL-17 pathway in inflammatory arthritis.7 Secukinumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody that directly inhibits IL-17A, has demonstrated efficacy and safety in adult patients with psoriasis (PsO), PsA, ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and nr-axSpA.8–11 This phase 3 study demonstrated the efficacy and safety of secukinumab in patients with active ERA and JPsA.
