The most strongly downregulated gene, Pcsk1n (L2FC -1.25, FDR < 3E-5), encodes proSAAS, a secreted chaperone that has anti-aggregation activity and is found associated with protein aggregates in brains of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients and an AD mouse model [33]. This evidence concerns the gene PCSK1N and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
