A variety of studies showed that Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) and Serine/threonine kinase 1 (AKT) are activated in ovarian cancer cells, which positively regulate their downstream genes mTOR, and inhibit cell autophagy, proliferation, apoptosis, and metabolic function (Mabuchi et al., 2015). This evidence concerns the gene MTOR and ovarian carcinoma.
