GPT and atherosclerosis: As mentioned in the above results, a high-fat diet resulted in the increased circulating level of inflammatory marker (C-reactive protein, CRP, Supplementary Figure 1C), lipid peroxidation marker (malondialdehyde, MDA, Supplementary Figure 2D), blood lipids (TC, TG, LDL-C, Figures 1A–C), liver enzymes (ALT, AST, Supplementary Figure 7), and decreased circulating level of HDL-C (Figure 1D), as well as antioxidant activity (SOD, TAOC, GPx, Supplementary Figures 2A–C), which at least partially demonstrated the successful development of an animal model for atherosclerosis.
