For instance, excessive activation of STING in liver is associated with the progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease by strengthening macrophage‐mediated liver inflammation and fibrosis (Qiao et al., 2018); STING pathway regulates the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome in bone marrow cells and cardiomyocytes (Gaidt et al., 2017). Here, STING1 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
