GFAP expression increases in Müller cells in late AMD patients [38]; moreover, changes in GFAP expression occur in response to various types of retinal insults, such as laser- or light-induced damage, diabetic retinopathy [39,40,41], retinal detachment [42], and inherited retinal degeneration [43]. The gene discussed is GFAP; the disease is age-related macular degeneration.
