This finding is interesting as using the same CRISPR/Cas9 system in a cancer cell line (HCT116) resulted in a large insertion (more than 150 base pairs) in exon 2 of the SH3PXD2b gene, reinforcing the notion that embryonic stem cells have more robust genomic stability—due to more rigid genome integrity protecting machinery—compared with cancerous cells [28,29]. This evidence concerns the gene SH3PXD2B and cancer.
