Similar to in astrocytoma cells, in rat primary cortical neurons (rPCNs), the IL-1β-induced up-regulation of P2Y2R, virtually absent in quiescent cells, enhanced the production of sAPP alpha, suggesting that pro-inflammatory stimuli can enhance non-amyloidogenic APP-processing through the P2Y2 sites also in neurons [122].
