Many studies have shown that genetic deletion or pharmacological blockade of Kv1.3 attenuates the activation of microglia cells and the release of pro-inflammatory factors following stimulation with Aβ, ischemic stroke, aggregated α-synuclein (αSynAgg), or LPS, suggesting that the expression of voltage-gated potassium channel Kv1.3 is one of the prerequisites for microglia activation [208,211,212,213].
