Analysis of MMP2 and MMP9 mRNA expression levels in eight primary colorectal tumours revealed a 3.6–13.7-fold increase in MMP2 (p = 0.0356) and a 0.5–320.7-fold increase in MMP9 (p = 0.5286) levels compared with healthy colon tissue (Figure 1A). This evidence concerns the gene MMP9 and colorectal neoplasm.
