Functional inhibition of MMP2/9 in SKOV3 cells, as well as combined knockdown of MMP2/9 by siRNA pools, significantly reduced peritoneal colonisation (Supplementary Figure S2, uncropped WB figures Figure S2B), thus indicating active roles for MMP2 and MMP9 activation during the PC of CRC and ovarian cancer cell lines.
