These naked micronucleus clusters in the cytoplasm could subsequently recruit DNA sensors, including cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) and absent in melanoma 2 (AIM2), activating their corresponding cGAS/STING and AIM2/caspase-1 inflammasomes and upregulating the expression levels of proinflammatory cytokines, type-1 interferons (T1IFNs), and T1IFN-responsive genes. This evidence concerns the gene CGAS and melanoma.
