Caveolin-1 (Cav-1), an integral membrane protein required for caveolae formation that also functions as a scaffolding protein and a key regulator of cell signaling molecules [14], was shown to promote tumor cell migration, invasion, and metastasis in breast, colon, lung, bladder, prostate cancer, melanoma, and others [15,16,17,18,19,20]. This evidence concerns the gene CAV1 and prostate cancer.
