[109], inflammatory macrophages derived from human patients with diabetes were also found to be less mature, as determined by the maturation transcription factor Runt-related transcription factor 1 (RUNX1), the ETS family transcription factor SPI1/PU.1, and the CAAT enhancer-binding protein alpha (CEBP-α) [111].
