The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha (PPARGC1A), a nuclear receptor co-modulator, was downregulated in the choroidal tissues of the laser-induced CNV mouse, consistent with the observation that PPARβ/δ regulates signaling pathways involved in neovascular lesion development, thus potentially contributing to the pathogenesis of AMD [32]. Here, PPARGC1A is linked to age-related macular degeneration.
