Higher dispositional optimism has been found to be associated with healthier levels of several aging biomarkers including telomere, fibrinogen, interleukin-6, interleukin-10, homocysteine, and lipid profile [36–39], and thus, it may be related to lower risks of developing and dying from age-related diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, which is the leading non-cancer cause of death in patients with esophageal cancer in Sweden [40]. This evidence concerns the gene IL10 and cardiovascular disorder.
