Recent studies show that functional single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the HOTAIR gene are associated with the expression and function of this gene in many cancers including CRC.9,10 It has been reported that especially these SNPs (rs920778, rs4759314, rs1899663, rs12826786, etc.)found in HOTAIR act as cancer susceptibility loci in lung cancer, gastric cancer, breast cancer, and neuroblastoma, and they are highly associated with increased risk of these cancers.11 This evidence concerns the gene HOTAIR and colorectal carcinoma.
