Inflammatory bowel diseases are immune-mediated inflammatory diseases with relapses and are caused by the combination of immune, microbial, and genetic factors.1,2 Anti-inflammatory drugs such as aminosalicylates and corticosteroids, immunosuppressant drugs such as thiopurines and methotrexate, and anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) drugs are used in the treatment of IBDs.
