Patients who underwent extraoral surgery vs. intraoral operation had a higher CRP (168 vs. 111 p = 0.003), higher WBC (15.3 vs. 12.5, p = 0.008), larger abscesses (41 mm vs. 32 mm p = 0.024), and a higher prevalence of VS and SLS edema (for both, 89% vs. 69% p = 0.041), ME (43% vs. 8.9% p = 0.001) and RPE (51% vs. 25% p = 0.022). Here, CRP is linked to abscess.
