In the Copenhagen City Heart Study, it was observed that individuals with an Lp(a) above the 80th percentile had a hazard ratio for myocardial infarction of 2.0 (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.6–4.1) [14], which further increases with higher Lp(a) levels to 2.6 (95% CI 1.6–4.1) for patients above the 95th percentile [2]. This evidence concerns the gene LPA and myocardial infarction.
