Several of these Egr3-dependent genes map to schizophrenia GWAS loci, and are abnormally expressed in the brains of patients with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, and Alzheimer’s dementia, supporting findings of studies indicating that EGR3 may be a master regulator of pathophysiological changes in numerous neuropsychiatric disorders [1–4]. This evidence concerns the gene EGR3 and Alzheimer disease.
