Myocardial damage due to ischemia or myocardial infarction (MI) causes an increase in oxidative stress and initiates an inflammatory response as well as production of different cytokines including tumor necrosis factor α (TNF‐α) (Kaur et al., 2009; Savic‐Radojevic et al., 2013).
