CCL2 and epilepsy: Communication between the innate and adaptive responses involves cell‐cell interactions, as well as soluble factors such as cytokines, such as interleukin(IL)‐1β, IL‐6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)‐α, transforming growth factor beta (TGF)‐β, and chemokines, such as monocyte chemoattractant protein‐1 (MCP‐1; chemokine, C‐C motif, ligand 2; CCL2), components of the complement pathway, such as C1q, C3, and other molecules and related receptors studied in both experimental and human epilepsy.
