As already mentioned, ascorbate can act as an epigenetic therapeutic in the presence of heterozygous TET2 mutations by restoring TET2 activity and providing an opportunity for reversing disease progression in AML cases linked to heterozygous loss-of-function mutations in TET2. Thus, the proposed mechanism of action requires the presence of residual functional enzyme (Das et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene TET2 and acute myeloid leukemia.
