In addition to the disorders described above, an increasing number of studies were performed to develop a better understanding regarding the role of IL-37 in other diseases including necrotizing enterocolitis (60), temporomandibular joint inflammation (61, 62), Behcet’s disease (63, 64), periodontitis (65), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (66), type 2 diabetes mellitus (67, 68), calcific aortic valve disease (69, 70), asthma (71–73), liver inflammation, and fibrosis (74). This evidence concerns the gene IL37 and diabetes mellitus.
