The intraperitoneal administration of a high dose of HNP-1 in wild-type mice after sepsis onset caused a decreased abundance of VE-cadherin in the liver sinusoidal endothelial cells, while this phenomenon was not observed when a high dose of HNP-1 was intraperitoneally administered to Casp1−/− mice. This evidence concerns the gene DEFA1 and Sepsis.
