Among 50 serum analytes we found that only IL-6 presented a near significant p-value after multiple comparisons testing (p= 0.0583), with an unadjusted p-value of 0.0012 and r = -0.5008 (Table 2,Figure 2D) highlighting IL-6 as a likely major driver of hypoferremia during human COVID-19. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and COVID-19.
