Unfortunately, the currently available drugs for PD treatment are only symptomatic drugs [i.e., levodopa, DA agonist, and monoamine oxidase B (MAO B) inhibitors] that can only alleviate the symptoms, but are incapable of preventing the progressive nature of the disease's progression and consequences (Hurtig, 1997; Potashkin and Seidl, 2011; Sarkar et al., 2016). Here, MAOB is linked to Parkinson disease.
