HMGA2 and non-small cell lung carcinoma: miR-150-5p activity as tumor suppressor has been related to its ability to inhibit wingless (Wnt)-β-catenin signaling pathway, closely associated with NSCLC progression, by targeting known activators like glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta interacting protein, β-catenin, and high mobility group AT-hook 2 (45, 56) as well as to reduce the matrix metalloproteinase 14 (MMP14) levels, whose overexpression correlates with a poor prognosis in NSCLC patients (47–57).
